Shocked by the recent Stupak amendment seriously limiting women's health care choices and by congressional compromises to pass a bill, PWA planned a March forum to take stock of the situation. PWA scheduled this event during Women's History Month to place current threats into the long story of who controls women's bodies--and therefore their opportunities in the world. We will assess the potential consequences of pending legislation and consider what actions seem necessary and are feasible. Join us to learn exactly what legislation is pending, where it stands politically and legally, and how its passage would affect women on the street, at home, and at work, as well as the physicians and institutions caring for them. And learn why the anti-choice movement is demonizing Margaret Sanger, the founder of the birth control movement, forty-five years after her death. Panelists from across the state will join Gayla Jewell of the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center. Avail yourself of the opportunity to learn from Gayla and from Kary Moss, Executive Director, ACLU of Michigan; Sarah Scranton, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan; and State Senator Gretchen Whitmer (23rd District). | ||
